An Ultimate Guide to Getting Started with MyEtherWallet

MyEtherWallet (MEW) is one of the leading Ethereum wallets out there. It enables you to store, send and receive Ether and other ERC-20 tokens. If you are looking for a secure wallet that will keep your funds safe, then myetherwallet is a great option. In this article, we’ll provide an ultimate guide to getting started with MyEtherWallet.

Creating a New Wallet

The first step in getting started with MyEtherWallet is creating your new wallet. Visit www.myetherwallet.com and click the “Create New Wallet” button on the homepage. You’ll be asked to enter a strong password to protect your wallet; make sure it’s at least 10 characters long, contains both upper and lowercase letters, numbers and special characters. Once you have entered the password, click “Create New Wallet” again and you will be taken to the next page where you can see your private key.

Back Up Your Private Key

It’s important that you back up your private key as soon as possible so that you can access your funds if something were to happen to your computer or phone – for instance if it was stolen or lost. To generate a backup phrase, click on the “Download Keystore File (UTC/JSON)” link on the top right corner of the page. This will download a file onto your computer which contains all of the information needed to access your wallet in case something happens to it; store this file securely! Alternatively, you can also print out a paper version of your private key by clicking on “Print Paper Wallet” – this is not as secure as backing up electronically but it may be useful if you don’t have access to an electronic device or printer when accessing your wallet in future.

Funding Your Wallet

The next step is funding your wallet with Ether or ERC-20 tokens such as Tether or EOS. First head over to “Send Ether & Tokens” tab in MEW and select either Ether or ERC-20 token from the drop-down menu at the top right corner of the page; enter the amount that you would like to send into this field and then click “Generate Transaction” – this will generate an address for you which should look something like 0x123…456 where all but three of these numbers are randomly generated by MEW each time a transaction is created (the last three digits are always fixed). Copy this address into clipboard and then paste it into another exchange where you can buy Ether from using fiat currency such as USD or EURO; alternatively, if buying from another exchange isn’t possible then try using ShapeShift instead – once you’ve bought Ether from here simply transfer it over using MEW’s interface! It should take no more than 15 minutes for the transaction to complete – once it’s done head back over to MEW’s “Send Ether & Tokens” tab again where all incoming funds should now appear in green at bottom right corner of page (if they don’t appear after several hours then contact support@myetherwallet dot com).

Now that you know how easy it is get started with MyEtherWallet, why not give it a go? With its intuitive user interface and secure environment, MEW makes storing ETH tokens safe and straightforward for everyone – even those who are newbies when it comes cryptocurrency technology! Plus since all transactions within MEW are free-of-charge there’s nothing stopping anyone from taking their first steps towards becoming part of digital revolution today! Happy trading!
